Oh my goodness, it’s finally here! The Teacher Wellbeing Podcast is LIVE!
At this stage there are only 2 ways to listen: via the Whooshkaa player embedded below, or if you’re an Apple user, on iTunes. Hopefully soon I’ll have figured out how to get it into the various players for Android operating systems, as well as YouTube. But at the moment I’m working on one technological learning curve at a time so Android listeners, thanks for your patience!
If you listen on iTunes, please do subscribe so you won’t miss an episode. Also if you leave a review, I’m having a little review competition so read on for more information about that!
In this episode, I answer these questions:
What is the Teacher Wellbeing Podcast?
Why did I start it?
What is Self-Care for Teachers?
Who am I, Ellen Ronalds Keene?
Who is this show for?
What can you expect from this podcast going forward?
You have permission to put yourself first. The plane safety message that I’m sure we’ve all heard is all about self-care. That idea of fit your own oxygen mask before helping others. This is what we as teachers need to learn and practise in order for us to go on making a difference long into the future.
That’s the intention of this podcast, it’s the intention of the Self-Care for Teachers movement — it’s to support each other in prioritising our own self-care and each other’s self-care, to be the best version of ourselves as possible, as human beings and as teachers in an education system that doesn’t do this very well YET. I think we’re moving in the right direction but there’s still a long way to go.
This is not a podcast about pedagogy. It’s about the way that the happiness, health and wellbeing of teachers impacts pedagogy and classroom practice, but it’s not about pedagogy itself.
